Unable to send or receive emails using Microsoft Outlook 2007
If you cannot send or receive emails using Microsoft Outlook 2007, then this article will definitely help you in tracing the causes of the problem. There are three possible causes that you might want to check on. These are Internet connectivity issues with your Internet provider, Server port settings in Microsoft Outlook, and security restrictions that are enabled in your antivirus program.
You can try the troubleshooting steps below if you cannot send or receive emails.
1. First let’s try to check if you are able to connect to the web.
a) Open your Internet browser and go to at least two websites you haven’t visited that day. If you getting an error message that the webpage cannot be displayed then you’re not online. In this case, you can try rebooting your computer but first you need to close all running applications. If there are no changes and you’re still unable to connect to the Internet, you can contact your Internet provider for technical assistance.
2. If your internet connection is fine, we’ll try to verify if you have the right email settings.
a) Go to Microsoft Outlook.
b) Click “Tools” on the main menu and then select on “Account Settings” to view the Account Settings window.

c) Select the email account that you want to edit the settings then select the option “Change” to open the Internet E-mail Settings window. You may now verify if you have the correct email settings that are provided by your Internet service provider such as incoming mail server and outgoing mail server. Check if your name and email address is correct. You can re-enter your username and retype your password to make sure that you have the correct log in information.

d) Now, go to “Test Account Settings” to see if you can now send or receive emails using Microsoft Outlook 2007. If yes, then simply move on to the next troubleshooting step.
3. You may also want to check your Antivirus program to see if the settings prevent you from sending or receiving emails.
a) Open your Antivirus program and go to the preferences tab to make sure that the configuration is not set to block incoming or outgoing emails.
b) You can also try to disable your antivirus program and do a test email. If you can successfully send an email then this means that your antivirus program is the problem. You can change the configurations so that incoming and outgoing emails will go through and then save the changes.
c) Run your antivirus program again after sending the test email to protect your computer.
